Davis Plastic Surgery to Offer CoolSculpting™ by Zeltiq™

Raleigh, NC – Davis Plastic Surgery, PLLC, announced today that they are the first plastic surgery office in the Raleigh-Durham area to offer CoolSculpting by Zeltiq. This non-invasive fat reduction process is FDA-approved and supplements the body sculpting options offered by the practice.

“Because we can offer many surgical and non-surgical options for the body, we have the unique ability to customize each treatment plan to fully address and achieve the patient’s concerns and aesthetic goals,” says Dr. Glenn M. Davis, M.D., F.A.C.S., owner of Davis Plastic Surgery. “CoolSculpting works for both men and women and has been documented to lead to permanent fat reduction, not temporary spot reduction,” adds Davis. “The treatment requires no downtime, so patients can immediately resume their normal activities.” Davis’ patients are given an iPad to browse the Internet, watch a movie, read a book or listen to music during the treatment.

Unlike most other devices, CoolSculpting utilizes a patented method called Cryolipolysis™ (the use of precisely controlled cooling to remove fat) that is designed to only kill fat cells. The treatment directly targets the underlying fat, leaving the skin surface and other tissue unaffected. The cooled, killed fat cells then begin a process called “apoptosis” (natural cell death) and gradually begin to shrink and disappear over the next few weeks to months. The Zeltiq Dermal Cooling Device was approved by the Food and Drug Administration on September 15, 2010.
