Power-Assisted Liposuction

Power Assisted Liposuction (PAL)

The Skinny on Power Assisted Liposuction (PAL)

Considered an ‘easier’ alternative, power liposuction allows for the plastic surgeon to use a sleeker cannula that moves back and forth very quickly, around 3,00 strokes per minute. In traditional liposuction, the cannula is moved manually. Here, it’s a much less traumatic procedure on your body’s tissue and is highly effective. With the strictly mechanical movement, your plastic surgeon does not make any manual movements at all. The incisions are typically smaller than other types and results in a shorter and more precise procedure than other liposuction techniques.

Treatable areas that are ideal for PAL include:

The PAL Surgery

This newer power assisted liposuction resembles the UAL liposuction procedure just slightly. The vibrating cannula here enables the fat removal process to occur with less work and allows the doctor to rapidly remove more fat to achieve the smoothest results for your body. Similar to an automatic toothbrush, the cannula moves quickly with short prodding movements. Attached to the vacuum machine (as are all cannulas,) the cannula is available in different sizes only with this technique. Adding this technique to other procedures will maximize your results.

Breasts may often enlarge a cup size or more after fat removal in women after liposuction is performed on your abdomen, hips and thighs, It is speculated this enlargement is due to the hormones re-balancing in the body post liposuction of male and female fat receptors in the body after fat loss. Since less force via your plastic surgeon is used, the surgery itself is a bot more gentle on your body than other forms of liposuction.

The Tools for PAL Surgery
The vibrating cannula is required for the procedure. There is also a vacuum machine that the cannula hooks into for liposuction surgery. Cannulas come in different sizes and make smaller incisions and can target smaller areas in the body without damaging the surrounding tissue.
