Visitors' Stories -- Linda's Story:My Story -- By Linda S. Although I had liposuction done on my thighs and lower buttocks on May 11th of this year, my story really began over thirty years ago, when I was in high school. I come from a family of naturally thin, perfectly shaped people. My mother and younger sister always had great legs, and my sister even modeled for awhile when she was in her 20's. I, however, was another story. Although thin and petite like my mother and sister, when I turned 14, I developed a horrible pair of saddlebags on my thighs and a "bubble butt". No amount of dieting or exercise helped, and buying clothes was a nightmare. Being a person who always felt most comfortable in jeans made my life doubly miserable. I would have to try on 10 to 20 pairs of jeans before I found a pair that didn't make me look too "thigh - ie". I would never wear shorts, even on the hottest summer days, and a bathing suit was absolutely out of the question. Back then, when liposuction was unheard of , I used to dream about a method being invented that would magically "suck out" the fat from my thighs! When liposuction came upon the scene, I was interested, but afraid - the procedure was fairly new, and there were many horror stories that floated around, about people who ended up horrible deformed, and even some who died from the procedure. I put it out of my mind, but kept reading about it. Then about 10 years ago, I started a special savings account, almost without thinking about it - but in the back of my mind, I knew what it was for. In the meantime, I lived my life - I married, had a child, and divorced. Then I married again, and my husband died. I entered into a long-term relationship with an emotionally abusive man that lasted five years. When it broke up last year - after numerous taunts from the man regarding my "thunder thighs" echoing in my ears - I made up my mind. I was going to have liposuction! I found a local plastic surgeon who specialized in the tumescent method and made an appointment. My surgery was scheduled two weeks after the consultation, on a Friday at 8 am. I don't remember much of the procedure, but I do remember coming home that day and looking in the mirror. My saddlebags were gone!! Even that first day, I noticed a difference. Since that time, my improvement has been dramatic. I went into surgery as a size 3, weighing 110 pounds. I am now a size 2 (even in pants!), I weigh 98 pounds, and my thighs and butt are for the first time, in proportion. I can wear any kind of pants, shorts, and the tiniest bikinis. My self-confidence has risen tremendously. My only regret is that I waited so long to have the procedure done. In summary, I would like to say that liposuction has changed my life. It was well worth the pain and discomfort during the healing process, and I would recommend it to anyone who feels about their body the way I felt about mine!
